13-11-2006 - Sweeping Victory For DPS Against Dubai Scholars

DPS Sharjah played their 2nd pool match on 13/11/06 with Dubai Scholars who was playing their debut match in the tournament. Dubai scholars got the ball in hand during the jump but DPS Sharjah found their first basket through Kunal.

Until 1st 10mins scholars could not touch the board due to the solid defense of the “mighty Delhi”. DPS converted every ball that reached their court to the basket and kept the scholars down.

 

At the end of first quarter DPS shut scholars with scores 24-0.

2nd quarter started with scholar throwing a vain 3 pointer. But within 10mins scholars scored their first basket through their captain Vishesh.There were regular time outs and substitution made by the always teams coach Mahesh. The Capt. of scholars was not properly backed by the team as there were many mispasses  and  not properly converting easy shots. Tiny Ankur not only shocked the weak scholars defense but shocked the whole crowd with his skills.

 

End of 2nd quarter with scholars having some light with score reading 49-8.

Start of 3rd quarter scholars scored the first basket and reached 2digit unit. Fast paced match kept the scorekeeper on the toes with basket being scored every 20sec.

 

DPS Sharjah played more offensive then defensive with Ankur finding the hoops with occasional 3 pointers.After 3rd quarter with DPS score streaming 65-18

4th quarter witnessed a lot of substitutions made by the Dipsite. There was a shout of glee as the duo Nihal Nashad walked in finishing the match with score 85-29

DPS staggered the scholars for convincible 56pts difference.

11-11-2006 - Nims Sharjah Beat Nims Dubai In Pool C.

In the pool C boys basketball match NIMS Sharjah beat NIMS Dubai by a close margin on Sunday, November 11 2006. The final scores were NIMS Sharjah 62 and NIMS Dubai59.

 

The match started in great enthusiasm. NIMS Sharjah took control of the first quarter as they had adopted a good strategy and took a lead fast. In the 2nd quarter starting at NIMS Sharjah leading 16-9. NIMS Sharjah were aggressive and had good footwork, they got many 3 pointers but NIMS Dubai fought back and it was a close call as the score was always neck to neck and NIMS Dubai wit their fabulous comeback bought the score to 28 – 30. the 3rd quarter began with NIMS Sharjah leading by 8 points but as the game went on, NIMS Sharjah increased their margin by 14 points with score being 48 – 34. But NIMS Dubai did not give in yet and they bought the score to 52 – 50. No.14 went down with injury on his left leg. The score had come to a tie 52 – 52 with both teams fighting for points. No.10 of NIMS Dubai buried a 2 pointer from the free throw line making them lead by 2 points, he came back with a drive in bringing the score to 56 – 58 but Ajeth of NIMS Sharjah brought the tie back by scoring 2 points and the score was at 58 – 58. No.14 of  NIMS Sharjah got a 3 pointer which brought them back on top . NO. 14 fell again and inflicted more injuries. The last moments of the match were very intense as the teams could not hold possession and NIMS Sharjah were on the brink of losing the lead but the last few attempts of NIMS Sharjah went in vain and could not avail any results and NIMS Sharjah won the game with the final score being 62 – 59 .

(Day -2 ) 09-11-2006  - IHS beat Winchester in Pool A

In the pool A girls basketball match, IHS, Dubai won by a margin of 42 – 17 agents Winchester, Dubai on Thursday, November 09, 2006.

The match started with IHS having good possession and scoring 5 points in the first two minutes. After the first half the Indian High School led Winchester by 24 points to 13 with the bulk of the scoring being done by Dipthi and Roshni. Both the players scored 8 point a piece. No. 5 Reema of Winchester showed some impressive shooting skills although the highlight of the first half were some wonderful layups from Dipthi of IHS. The second half started with HIS maintaining the lead and having exactly double the score (30-15) after the third quarter. The fourth and final quarter was dominated by No. 8, Rashmi of HIS.

Roshni of HIS top scored with 22 points . Reema of Wichester also put up a show but in vain.

“The atmosphere in DPS is amazing and the court is also,” said Roshni of IHS when asked how she felt about the tournament. The Winchester girls who lost the game were little depressed but said that they enjoyed the game.
