( Day -6 )-13-11-2006 -OOEHS, DUBAI BEATS WESTMINSTER   DUBAI IN GIRLS POOL D BY 66 –27

In pool D on Monday the 13th of November, there was an exciting girls match played between Westminster   Dubai and OOEHS, Dubai the match started with OOEHS dominating the jump ball OOEHS scored 6 early points to secure a good and steady lead which was necessary for them to progress. But Westminster also earned two points through a speedy fast break. At the end of the first quarter the score was 20-5 to OOEHS Dubai. Westminster, Dubai scored 4 more points at the start of the second quarter but OOEHS maintained their lead till the end of the second quarter with the scoreboard reading 33-14 for OOEHS Dubai.

They  pulled up by another 4 points within a few minutes after the third quarter commenced and played consistently well with the score at the end of the quarter reading 54-20 to OOEHS. Our own had many fast breaks and had scored 8 more points but Westminster continued to fight valiantly with a player from Westminster scoring a 3 points which drew many gasps from the crowd. However their efforts were not enough as they were steam rolled by OOEHS Dubai with the final score being 66-27.the match ended with OOEHS Dubai in a state of euphoria with all their teammates spilling onto the court. The highest scorers in OOEHS Dubai were Garveeta Somani with 27 points and Aarathi Kumar with 20 points. Their counterpart in the Westminster school was Hams Gamal with 17 points.

(Day -2) - 09-11-2006 -English National School wins by 64 runs

The thrilling match between Westminster and Emirates National School, which lasted for almost 4 hours, ended with Emirates National School triumphant and happier.

 

Emirates National School played the first innings. The opener was Ansel who scored 15 runs. The highest scorer, Dheeraj attained 17 runs. Dheeraj even took 1 wicket claiming the man of the match title. The School altogether scored 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

 

 Westminster achieved a decent score of 71 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. The highest scorer, Talha scored 24 runs.

 (Day -2) - 09-11-2006 -Walk –Over win for Emirates English Speaking School

Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai v/s Indian Excellent School, Sharjah  

 

This match was a walkover. Indian Excellent School, Sharjah were not able to come to the venue : DPS Sharjah for this match

 

Not many smiles for Emirates English Speaking School, as they were very eager to play the match.

The captain and his team stated that – “ They were not very happy even though they had won the match because they all had come prepared and were very ready for the match.    

 

It was a walkover win for Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai

(Day -2) -  09-11-2006  -  DPS DXB Beats Wesgreen, Sharjah in pool C (Day -1)

The first match between DPS Dubai and Wesgreen Sharjah in the lush grounds of DPS Sharjah on the 9th November 2006 proved to be a sweeping win for the DPS Dubai. Wesgreen lost to DPS Dubai unable to meet the score of 95 runs.

DPS Dubai opted to bat under the leadership of Tanmay.  The match of 20 overs came to a sizzling finish with DPS Dubai  scoring a total of 140 runs with Tanmay as the captain.  Tanmay scored 27 runs and took 5 wickets claiming the Man of the Match title.

Disappointed Wesgreen captain Mohammed Usmann and his team scored a total of 45 runs.  The captain of the Wesgreen team scored 6 runs and the highest wicket taker was Tousheef , with two wickets. 

The thrilled Captain of DPS DXB comments:  “We played very well today but hope to improve our score next time”
