A joyful culmination of a year’s hard work… made much more memorable when they were acknowledged in the presence of their parents and teachers. They were the ones who scaled 80% above and were awarded the Scholar Badge for the year 2004-2005 from grades V-VIII on the 8 June 2005.
Mr.S.S.U.Tabrez – the Chairman of the CBSE schools in the Gulf and the principal of the Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai was the chief guest and Mrs.Bhatavia, the Guest of Honour.
Welcoming the gathering, the Principal, Mrs.Abha Sahgal observed that the DPS, Sharjah has been able to bring out students who are great and inquisitive learners far better than some of the elite urban students in some of the top Indian schools. The emphasis throughout the five years was on molding good human beings with well-rounded personalities.
Referring to the stupendous results in grade X and XII this year, Mrs. Sahgal pointed out that the school achieved this incredible feat by carefully synchronizing academics and co curricular activities. She said that courses like Math Foundation Classes conducted by experts from Delhi were organized not just to hone the academic performance of the students but to give them a wider intellectual exposure by coming in direct contact with great men and recognize the value of such people.
Stressing the importance of sports given at DPS, Sharjah, Mrs. Sahgal said that the Cricket Academy would soon be inaugurated providing world class coaching with the ex-Indian cricketer Mr. Madan Lal as the chief coach.
Observing the huge attendance of parents even on a working day, she said they were good parents to their children and also thanked them for their great enthusiasm and immense support.
The proceedings were initiated by a Bharat Natyam and ‘I’m on top of the World’ sung by Grade VII truly reflecting the proud feelings of the high achievers.
Besides recognizing their academic excellence, students were also honoured for their exceptional performance in the fields of dance, art, public speaking and Elocution.
