Scholar Badge 2006 – 2007 A Saga of Success

 

 

 

For more than 200 students from Grade 9 to 12 who worked their way to the top echelon of recognition and highest honour, it was a moment of fulfilment far exceeding their expectation as they proudly received the scholar badge title from the chief guest Dr. B. Ramjee Director, Mahe Manipal Duabi campus on September 9, 2007 at the DPS new auditorium. The occasion was further graced by the presence of a huge crowd of parents who did not want to miss the moment of glory in the life of their children.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

As a result of the outstanding performance of grade X and XII students in the CBSE examination this year, the total number of students who made it to the top showed almost double the number compared to the last year.

 

Those who were scholars for seven consecutive years were awarded gold medal, 6 consecutive years were awarded blue tie with school emblem etched in golden colour, 5 consecutive years blue tie with two stripes, for 4 years blue tie with single stripe, 3 years blue blazer and green tie with light green stripe for scholar for the first time.

 

 

 

Dharini Natarajan of grade X won the acclamation of all for clinching the top position not only in her school but in all the CBSE schools in the UAE scoring an aggregate of 96.2% in the grade X examination by CBSE, Delhi. Avijit Bandyopadhyay, Reuben Benjamin George, Manju Sanjay Anisha Kunder,Niharika Sunil, Rhushikesh, Kavitha Ananth, Iyshwarya Balasubramanian and Anumita Chatterjee were among the first ten toppers from grade X who achieved outstanding results.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grade XII science topper Preethi Kosaraju (NIT Warangal) Shriram Subramanianm (Cornell university, New York), commerce stream topper Akshaya Kothari (AUS) and Mughdha Kalvade (AUS)were among who were honoured on the occasion.

 

Five students from grade XI Tarun Gopalakrishnan, Akshaya Wahi, Lokesh Hotchandani, Aradhya Malhotra and Jose Krishnanunni won the gold medal for being scholar badge holders for 7 consecutive years.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abhishek Garg of grade XII who is now doing his engineering in electrical from Drexel University Philadelphia was given special honour for being a scholar for 8 consecutive years since he joined DPS, Sharjah.

 

Being true to the DPS tradition, it was not only academic excellence but students who excelled in sports, art, dance, music, quizzing, leadership were also honoured with certificate of merit and commendation letters.

Addressing the gathering a highly jubilant principal Mrs. Abha Sahgal congratulated the high achievers and said it was a landmark year for DPS Sharjah in seven years as it ran the race to the top position in the UAE grade X results.

 

She ascribed this stupendous achievement to the conscientious support of the parents and the dedicated effort of the teachers who once again fulfilled the true calling of their profession. She said out of 168 students who appeared for the grade X examination, 95 % (159 students) secured first class out of which 70.5% (112 students) obtained distinction. An amazing 16 students scored above 90% aggregate with A1 in all five subjects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She encouraged the students not to be satisfied with what they have already achieved but to continue the good work to greater heights.

 

The chief guest Dr. B.Ramjee Director, Mahe Manipal Duabi campus, in his key note address advised them to be always curious about things that surround them. Speaking in parables and fables, Dr. Ramjee gripped the attention of the children. He urged them to grow mentally, intellectually, professionally and technologically while developing a quite confidence that is the trademark of all great leaders.

 

Headmistress Mrs. Asma Gilani, Supervisor, Mr. Rajeev and reps of grade IX to XII called out the scholars to receive their titles.
