DPS Student shines as Bee’ah Champion

School Eco Committee Secretary, student of 11B and current Coordinator-Student Council, Arushi Madan has been very active on environment front not only within school but also outside the school. She has been campaigning in the social communities for the importance of recycling, reduced wastage, and other environment values. To prove her point of recycling and set an example for others, she took an inspiration from Abu Dhabi Eco Waste Exhibition where she and few other Eco Committee members visited under the guidance and supervision of school Environment Coordinator Ms. Anjum Hasan.  She picked few discarded car and bicycle tyres and rims from the junkyard, cleaned and painted those, fixed them together with round glass on top and converted them into beautiful coffee/serving table. These tables and her efforts have been applauded by various media like “7 days” newspaper, “Gulf News”, ”Gulf Today” and “Mathrubhumi”.  She was invited by Bee’ah (Sharjah’s environment and waste management company and also the organisers of Earth Day walkathon) to Bee’ah head office and was given certificate of appreciation for her environmental contribution and was also invited to showcase her upcycled tables at Al Majaz on the eve of Earth Day 2014. It is a matter of pride for our school that Bee’ah awarded her with the BEE’AH’s 3rd BEST CHAMPION from entire UAE. She was presented the 3rd BEST CHAMPIONSHIP Trophy and Virgin Megastore Vouchers of 600 Dhs as appreciation of her efforts towards environment protection. Arushi also won “Green Star UAE” title last year and was awarded Bosch Energy Efficient washing machine. Our Principal Mrs. Vandana Marwaha congratulated Arushi on this momentous achievement and recognition.
