FIRST LEGO LEAGUE – UAE

“Good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the ‘me’ for the ‘we’.”

For the first time, FLL was conducted across the United Arab Emirates jointly by the two stalwarts Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Education Council with ATLAB (authorized distributor of LEGO) as their Knowledge Partner on 29th of October at Emirates National School, Sharjah.

The First LEGO League challenge theme called “Trash Trek 2016” includes a real-world problem such as making less trash, recycling waste, how to improve the way people handle the trash.

Students were challenged to develop a solution and design, build, program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® technology, then compete on a table-top playing field. Basically they were tested in 4 different categories namely Research, Core Values, Robot Design and Robot game.  Dipsites could achieve this only because they learnt to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM).

Two teams (Trash Syndicate and Awesome blossom) comprising of 10 students each represented DPS Sharjah.

We are happy and proud to announce that our students from the team “Trash Syndicate” won the first position in the Research category. There were around 48 groups that participated in this league. Awards were given only for the first position. Our other team (Awesome blossom) won the second position in research and core values category. Trash Syndicate was in 3rd position in Robot game. Amazing team spirit, excellent coordination, hard work, and determination led to this success story.

Hearty congratulations to the participants.
