‘In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can”. The delegation
of fifteen students representing DPS, Sharjah at MUN@DPSD’2015 indeed
learnt that self confidence and belief in your own ability are the keys
to success in life. MUN@DPSD15 was conducted in DPS Dubai from the 13th
to the 15th of November. It was a platform of 256 delegates from over 10
local and Indian schools to debate, discuss, agree and disagree with a
positive state of mind.
The delegates from DPS Sharjah participated in
eight dynamic committees that included the NATO, the Crisis Committee,
the GA1, GA3, GA6, the security council and an even an enthralling,
thoroughly engaging crisis situation headed by the secretary general
that gave the delegates an insight into how
to solve a real life crisis through simulating evidences.
Manya Walia of 10-F and Subhadeep Sengupta of 10-G
won first position for
best position paper presented among ten
participating schools from UAE and India , as the delegates of JP Morgan
in the World Economic forum and Russia in the African union
respectively.
Both of them debated vigorously and confidently on various issues
ranging from the Greek Debt Crisis to FDI in developing economies.
Arushi Madan and Vyshak Satheesh of Grade 12, DPS Sharjah were co-chairs
of the World economic Forum and of the African union respectively and
were praised and lauded for their exemplary chairing performance.
The social night held at Movenpick hotel on the second day gave the
delegates an opportunity to interact with students from various other
schools.
The delegates also proved their problem solving skills during the
hypothetical emergency crisis held on the third day. It was an enriching
experience for the participants as they learnt more than just how to
debate, how to come up with effective solutions and how to implement
them.
With active encouragement from the Principal, Ms Vandana Marwaha, this
event has helped them immensely to enlighten the spirit of Global
Citizenship in their minds and provided them with a platform where they
can make their presence felt. |
